In this podcast episode, we discuss the always-debated topic of which should be a bigger priority for the Buffalo Bills off-season: offensive linemen or offensive weapons, like wide receivers and tight ends. We also discuss the firings of Bills assistant coaches Terry Robiskie (WRs), Juan Castillo (OL), and Danny Crossman (ST). We go in-depth with some stats as to why they were actually fired. Is it weird to root for anyone to get fired? Then we lighten up the conversation and talk about jobs we interviewed for (and definitely didn’t get), jobs we quit and how they came back to bite us, and some lessons we’re glad we learned. During Sunday night’s game between the Patriots and Steelers , Al Michaels said that Antonio Brown‘s agent Drew Rosenhaus told him that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady offered to let Brown stay with him while the wideout is getting acclimated to New England.Brady was asked about that during a Monday morning appearance on WEEI and didn’t sound thrilled that it was a topic of conversation during the game.“I think there’s a lot of things said on TV. I didn’t say that to anyone publicly,” Brady said.Brady did say that it was important to him to build close relationships with his teammates“My teammates are important to me. Relationships are important to me. That is the reason why I play,” Brady said. “I have had so many great teammates over the years and it’s part of what makes football so special — the relationships you build with the guys that you play with. This year is no different.”Brown’s relationship with Ben Roethlisberger deteriorated significantly in his final days with the Steelers. Whether they’re roommates or not Ja'Whaun Bentley Jersey , Brady will be aiming for something better with his new teammate.WATCH: Patriots head coach Bill Belichick breaks down the top plays from his team’s win over the Texans New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick knows more about football than any other coach in the NFL – possibly ever. Seeing him break down film is therefore must-watch television in order to broaden one’s very own understanding of the strategies and intricacies of the game. Belichick does this every week on, when he joins ex-New England quarterback Scott Zolak to take a look at the plays of the week.In this week’s episode of Belichick Breakdown, Zolak and his guest take a look at four of the team’s top plays from its 27-20 opening day win over the visiting Houston Texans:Belichick starts talking about the Patriots’ first touchdown of the game Womens Phillip Dorsett Jersey , a 21-yard back shoulder throw from Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski in a 3rd and 12 situation. The future Hall of Fame head coach explains how Houston likely expected Gronkowski to be lined up closer to the boundary, which in turn gave him the necessary space to operate near the sideline – and for Brady to place the football where only his target can come down with it.Next, Belichick takes a look at James White’s score in the second quarter. He points out how Brady initially looks to another read – wide receiver Chris Hogan – before moving to the other side to find White in the flat. Belichick praises White’s abilities in the passing game and to win a one-on-one battle in the open field.Belichick and Zolak next moved to the defensive side of the ball Youth Dont’a Hightower Jersey , starting with a breakdown of a second quarter sack by Deatrich Wise Jr. While the second-year defender ultimately was the one to take down Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, the front-line defensive tackles and left-side edge Kyle Van Noy all played a big role in creating the play – as did the coverage, which forced Watson to stay in the pocket long enough for Wise Jr. to get him. Finally Dont’a Hightower Jersey Stitched , a run stop in the fourth quarter is shown: Ja’Whaun Bentley made a tackle for a loss of one yard on a planned perimeter run. However, the Patriots’ defensive line – led by Lawrence Guy – was able to get penetration for the rookie to make the tackle and force Houston in another long-yardage situation in the red area.

Week 8 doesn’t offer too many “can’t miss” fantasy starts Brent Qvale Jersey , but astute owners who have worked the waiver wires or patiently waited for a slow starter to finally gain steam will be rewarded, as the slate provides a handful of under-the-radar performers who will deliver quality numbers. On the flip side, those players who struggled during the first seven weeks won’t see much of a respite. As the midway point of the season — and the NFL trade deadline next week — approaches, most of this season’s disappointing fantasy players are likely to continue showing their true, frustrating colors.START: Jameis Winston, QB, Buccaneers: Yes, the turnovers (seven in three games) is cause for concern, but Winston has also thrown for 760 yards and four touchdowns in his first two starts and gets a Bengals defense that is 28th in fantasy points per game allowed to opposing quarterbacks. What puts Winston high atop the must-start mountain is a renewed effort to run, as he has rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown in the last two games. It’s hard to envision Winston, who has attempted 93 passes in his two starts, not finding the end zone multiple times in what should be a high-scoring affair.SIT: T.J. Yeldon Womens Marcus Maye Jersey , RB, Jaguars: His pass-catching skills have made him a darling in PPR leagues, but Yeldon has yet to eclipse 60 rushing yards in a single game, a feat that becomes even less likely with the addition of Carlos Hyde to the Jacksonville backfield. The trip to London becomes less fruitful for Yeldon as he contends with an Eagles defense that is second in fewest fantasy points per game allowed to opposing running backs and seventh overall against the rush. There will be some flex appeal to Yeldon in PPR formats, but the prospect of Hyde cutting into his touches diminishes his value in other types of leagues.START: Marlon Mack, RB, Colts: Mack has averaged nearly 7 yards per carry in his last two games and will face an Oakland defense that is 27th in yards per carry allowed (4.7) and 22nd overall. He’s shown potential as a pass catcher out of the backfield, and while rookie Nyheim Hines will get the bulk of snaps in passing situations, expect Mack to be targeted a few times. Mack is an RB2 with a chance to produce RB1 numbers.SIT: Nelson Agholor, WR, Eagles: Part of the reason why the champs have struggled offensively, Agholor has just one touchdown this season and has been held under 30 receiving yards four times , including last week’s feeble 20-yard effort in the loss to the Panthers. Don’t expect Agholor to find his 2017 form in London against a Jaguars defense that leads the league with 195.4 passing yards per game. Although he’s averaging nearly eight targets per game, Agholor has done little to justify Carson Wentz throwing in his direction.START: Josh Gordon, WR, Patriots: The prospect of his first monster game in a New England uniform is rising. Gordon caught four passes for 100 yards in last week’s win over the Bears and he has seen his targets rise from six in his first two games to 16 over the past two outings. The Bills are fourth in receiving yards allowed, but they have given up 13 passing touchdowns, tying them for 20th overall. While Gordon has only one touchdown in New England, that is likely to increase on Monday night.SIT: Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions: Detroit’s gunslinger has thrown at least two touchdowns in five straight games, a streak that will be tested by a Seattle pass defense that is tied for second with only eight scoring passes allowed. No longer the “Legion of Boom,” the Seahawks still lead the league in fewest net passing yards allowed and are in the top 10 in interceptions. An improved ground game has led Stafford to throw a combined 48 passes in the last two games, and if the Lions are able to remain balanced offensively Brandon Copeland Jersey , then Stafford’s prolific yardage totals will also take a sizable hit.START: Raheem Mostert, RB, 49ers: If Matt Breida (ankle, hamstring) can’t go, then Mostert gets a great matchup against the Cardinals, who have the worst run defense in the league. Arizona also is dead last with 12 rushing touchdowns allowed, further bolstering Mostert’s value. He has averaged 7.6 yards per carry over the past two weeks and is a solid receiver out of the backfield; even if Breida happens to play, Mostert should still get enough touches to get RB2 status in PPR formats.SIT: Isaiah Crowell, RB, Jets: With Bilal Powell (neck) facing potential retirement, Crowell will get his share of the 13 touches per game that Powell totaled. However, Crowell must face a Bears defense that is third against the run and is the only team that has yet to allow a touchdown on the ground. Crowell has rushed for a combined 69 yards on 24 carries in the two games since he ran through the Broncos for 219 yards Womens Chris Herndon Jersey , making him a longshot of an RB2. He still won’t be heavily involved in the passing game, further dampening his value in PPR formats.START: Mitchell Trubisky, QB, Bears: He’s proven the six-TD outburst he had against the Buccaneers wasn’t a fluke, as Trubisky has thrown for 649 yards and five touchdowns in his last two games. The Jets are 25th in receiving yards allowed and have given up 13 touchdown passes, and with coach Matt Nagy taking the gloves off Trubisky, this makes for a great opportunity to run with the budding fantasy standout.SIT: Baker Mayfield, QB, Browns: The Steelers are 29th in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and while that makes starting Mayfield intriguing, he’s best off on the fantasy bench. He’s averaged just 226.5 passing yards per game in the last two weeks and could remain near that total if the Browns make a commitment to getting running back Nick Chubb an extensive workload. Murray-USA TODAY SportsThe Jets and running back Bilal Powell have agreed to terms on a deal that brings the veteran back to the team.A fourth round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Powell is the team’s longest tenured player. After suffering a neck injury that ended his 2018 campaign, it seemed like his time with the team had ended. However, Powell was cleared to continue his career a few months back. With the Jets in need of some extra depth in their backfield behind Le’Veon Bell, he was a natural fit. The team had him in for a workout on Friday, and it presumably went well since he was signed just hours later.Powell has only played with the Jets in his career. During his career he has run for 3,446 yards on 791 carries (4.4 average) with 15 touchdowns. He also has 204 career receptions for 1,567 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Another of Antoine’s sons is going to play for the Gophers"Today was National Signing Day in college football Womens Anthony Barr Jersey , and while we don’t generally talk a lot about college football unless it’s draft-related, this story has a connection to the Minnesota Vikings and one of our favorite players from the time this site has been operational.Another one of Antoine Winfield’s sons is going to play his college ball for P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers.Austin Winfield will be coming to join his older brother, Antoine, Jr., as part of the defense for the Golden Gophers. He’s a defensive back, just like his father and his brother.Antoine Winfield, as we know, was a star corner from the Vikings from 2004 to 2012, and was named one of the 50 Greatest Vikings of All Time. He went to three Pro Bowls with the Vikings, and was named Second-Team All-Pro in 2008.Antoine, Jr., joined the Golden Gophers in 2016, and was named that year to the ESPN True Freshman All-American team. He’s had some struggles with injuries over the past couple of seasons, including a foot injury that caused him to miss most of this past year, but should be fully recovered in time for the start of this season.Congratulations to Austin Winfield on his decision to come play for the Golden Gophers, and we wish him nothing but success going forward. For the rest of what the Gophers did on National Signing Day Eric Kendricks Jersey , check out The Daily Gopher. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings screamed at Stefon Diggs to step out of bounds once he secured the leaping catch at the sideline , seeking to stop the clock for a long field goal try just after the New Orleans Saints had taken a late lead in their NFC divisional-round playoff game last season .Diggs spun around instead, pressed his hand on the turf to keep his balance and sprinted the remaining 34 yards for the game-ending 61-yard touchdown pass that became known as the Minneapolis Miracle. That throw-catch-run will forever be one of the most memorable plays in NFL history. With the Saints set to visit the Vikings on Sunday night in a prime-time reprise of their instant classic, the coaches and players on both sides were trying their best to forget it — as inevitable as the replays have been throughout the week.“We’ll just have to deal with watching that last play again another 15 times, another 20 times, but that’s part of it,” said Saints coach Sean Payton, who sounded more disturbed by a failure by his offense to convert a third-and-1 on the previous drive that would have further limited the time the Vikings had to rally. If Saints safety Marcus Williams had tackled Diggs instead of trying an ill-fated undercut, the story of that game would have been about yet another comeback engineered by Drew Brees.“We did everything we could at the end of that game to go win it, and unfortunately they made a great play that allowed them to win it,” Brees said. “So I let it go pretty quick. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.”Though he remains a promising second-year player, Williams has had a hard time handling his infamy .“It’s another game,” he repeated each time the subject was broached by reporters this week.Even Diggs ducked the media this week. As for the revenge factor? The Saints dismissed that as fast as Diggs raced to the end zone that day. The Vikings did, too.“I think the Saints will come in with a chip on their shoulder because that’s who they are,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. Here are some other key angles to follow for the game:BRILLIANT BREESAt age 39, Brees has completed better than 77 percent of his passes this season for 1 ,870 yards, 13 touchdowns and no interceptions. In beating the Baltimore Ravens last week, Brees became the fourth player in NFL history with 500 or more career touchdown passes. The Vikings might be without top cornerback Xavier Rhodes, which could mean a big test for rookie Holton Hill.“I’m really not worried about this guy as far as the game being too big for him or anything like that if he has to play,” Zimmer said of Hill. “I feel like he’s a competitor. But he’s going to get in some matchups that may not be great.”THE BASICSWith the whiff by Williams at the worst possible time as a prime example, there’s no defensive skill more vital than tackling. The Vikings have been burned more than usual this season in pass coverage, but they’ve been sound on the ground with an average of 89.7 rushing yards allowed per game. With cornerback Trae Waynes, safety Harrison Smith and linebacker Eric Kendricks among the standouts, the Vikings have some of the surest tacklers in the league.“In today’s NFL, the way everybody’s playing in space now, if you’re not a good tackler in space it makes it really hard to be a good defensive team,” Zimmer said.GOING FOR ITThe Saints have run a fourth-down offensive play eight times in six games, converting seven.“That gives us confidence when you’ve got a coach that believes in his players,” running back Alvin Kamara said. “It’s cool to have that type of coach where he gives us opportunities to prove ourselves.”The Vikings have stopped four of the seven fourth-down plays against them. During their current three-game winning streak, they’ve thwarted 28 of 32 third downs and reclaimed the top spot in the league with a 23.4 percent conversion rate allowed.HILL’S ASCENTLast season, the Saints began to experiment with third-string quarterback Taysom Hill’s versatility by letting him cover kicks. This year Womens Trae Waynes Jersey , he has on several short-yardage occasions replaced Brees under center as a change-of-pace, read-option quarterback. Hill also has executed fake punts as a runner and a thrower, caught a pass and even took his first pitch as a running back last week.“He’s powerful. He’s got speed,” Kamara said. “I love having him. I wouldn’t want him to be nowhere else.”TEDDY TALKBetween Brees and Hill on the depth chart is Teddy Bridgewater, who was acquired in a trade with the New York Jets two months ago. Though he’s not likely to see the field, this will be Bridgewater’s first visit to Minnesota as an opponent after playing his first four seasons for the Vikings.“He’s got a lot of really good traits. You can tell he’s a guy that guys really like and will follow, and that’s what you need at the quarterback position,” Brees said.If Bridgewater had not suffered that devastating knee injury in 2016, he’d probably still be the face of the franchise in Minnesota instead of Kirk Cousins.“Like I’ve said a million times, I thought he’d be the quarterback for the rest of my career,” Zimmer said. “I love the kid. I love his nature, competitiveness, everything about him.”

GREEN BAY , Wis. (AP) — When Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers gets ready for his 15th season, he’ll be working with a new coach and offensive coordinator.Plus, for the first time in his career, he’ll be directing a new offense. At least there will be a constant for the 35-year-old quarterback: the return of Luke Getsy as quarterbacks coach.A quality control coach in 2014 and 2015 and receivers coach in 2016 and 2017, Getsy spent last season as offensive coordinator and receivers coach at Mississippi State. His presence should ease the adjustments for the two-time MVP.“You’ve got to earn people’s trust, show them how much you care before they’re going to care about you and want to do well for you,” Getsy said on Monday as the team introduced the staff of new coach Matt LaFleur.“I think that phase is probably going to just happen quicker, naturally, being here for four years and creating a relationship. That part of it makes the transition much easier.“Installing a new offense and the new principles and all that stuff, we’ve got a lot of work to do. We’re going to rely on the relationship as far as the mutual trust, respect we have for each other, but we’ve got a lot of work to do to get him to dive into this offense fully and being able to function at a high level.”LaFleur said that Getsy’s history with the team was another reason for his hiring.“Certainly, we’re going to find the best quarterback coach that’s out there Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey White ,” LaFleur said. “Some things that I really did like about Luke was the fact that he played quarterback in college. I reached out not only to Aaron, but a couple other guys with him being in the building before, just to find out what they thought of him as a man and as a coach, and everybody gave him a thumbs-up.”Rodgers’ introduction into the new offense can’t start until the beginning of the offseason program on April 1.There’s a lot for the new coaching staff to do before the players return in six weeks, including preparation for the scouting combine, which begins later this month.LaFleur, Getsy and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett all will have input in the quarterbacks room. Making sure they’re delivering the same message to Rodgers and fellow quarterbacks DeShone Kizer and Tim Boyle will be key.“We’ve got three quarterback guys that are going to be hitting him from all angles,” LaFleur said. “I know that I need to be in that room as much as I possibly can because I am going to be the play-caller. I think that relationship between the play-caller and the quarterback is absolutely critical. I don’t foresee ever missing a quarterback meeting.”Getsy arrives at the change with a unique perspective. He spent four seasons teaching former coach Mike McCarthy’s playbook. Now, he’s spent a few weeks learning LaFleur’s playbook. Getsy said terminology will be the biggest change for Rodgers.“It has the West Coast roots. The backbone is what he’s comfortable,” Getsy said. “The timing, the rhythm and all that stuff that he’s really, really good at, I think that’s all there.“The principles are there. It’s just speaking the language. That’ll be the biggest thing — for everybody — because there’s a lot of people in this building that have been here a while and have been ingrained in the previous terminology.”Notes: LaFleur finalized his staff on Monday by promoting Chris Gizzi to strength and conditioning coordinator and retaining Mark Lovat , Thadeus Jackson and Grant Thorne as assistants. Gizzi spent the past five seasons working under Lovat, who had been the coordinator since 2010. “That is a critical hire,” LaFleur said. “You talk about the guys that are going to talk to the team the most, it’s going to myself, it’s going to be the special teams coordinator and it’s going to be the strength coach. Those three positions are absolutely critical to our success moving forward.” As the Green Bay Packers look toward the 2019 NFL Draft, they do so with a little more excitement than usual. With three picks in the top 45 selections and several positions of need, Green Bay has an opportunity to land instant contributors and long-term cornerstones next April. While the Packers figure to improve their depth at edge rusher with at least one of those picks, their need to improve the safety position truly revealed itself as the 2018 season wore on. And because of that, the name Johnathan Abram should be on Packers fans’ radars heading into pre-draft festivities. The 6’0, 215-pound Abram entered his senior season at Mississippi State as a potential mid-round draft pick. After a stellar year, he finds himself hovering in the area of rounds one and two depending on his athletic testing at the NFL Combine. The former junior college safety began his college career with the Georgia Bulldogs before finishing his final two years of eligibility with Mississippi’s version of the bulldogs. He brings that bulldog trait to the playing field.Described as a “throwback” safety, Abram’s game is passionate and relentless, attributes the Packers’ defense could benefit from. He brings a thump to any and all ballcarriers and learned to harness that physicality enough to better avoid personal foul penalties as a senior. Although his aggressiveness has led to blown coverages on occasion , notably a long touchdown pass against Iowa in the Outback Bowl, Abram improved greatly with experience. A major issue of the Packers’ deep half of the secondary was tackling this past season and Abram would shore up that area of weakness immediately as one of the draft’s best tacklers from the safety position. On top of his intensity, Abram has been a playmaker, totaling 14 tackles for a loss, five sacks, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions over his two seasons in Starkville. He was in position for several more interceptions in 2018, coming up just shy on a few occasions. But when the Bulldogs needed a third down stop or a sure tackle on a screen pass, Abram usually came through and showed the ability to shed through blockers on the outside. For a team like Green Bay, which tied for 29th in the NFL in takeaways in 2018, Abram’s ability to find the ball would be a welcome addition.Abram’s versatility may be of most significant interest to Green Bay. In recent seasons, the Packers have employed safeties at inside linebacker on passing downs to gain an advantage in coverage. His physicality would be a great fit in the box for the Packers, especially against tight ends. Green Bay could also line Abram up in the slot Vince Biegel Jersey , where he has been a dangerous blitzer as a senior and held his own against top receivers. Against Alabama, Misssissippi State used Abram in the slot against Jerry Jeudy and he held the Crimson Tide’s standout to just six catches for 45 yards, his second-lowest output of the season. Abram’s ability to line up in man coverage in the slot and outside when needed, in addition to safety and potentially linebacker, would give the Packers the tremendous versatility they covet.Abram’s play in 2018 has made him a surefire pick in the draft’s first two days and many are beginning to take notice. While Abram still has coverage skills he needs to work on, a good showing at the Combine could vault him into late first-round consideration and the territory of Green Bay’s second pick of the round. A very vocal team player with leadership skills and experience in the SEC, Abram would bring a swagger to the game that the Packers need now more than ever. While he may not be the free roamer that the Packers must also address at safety, he is the kind of in-the-box safety that they hoped Josh Jones and Kentrell Brice would become.Green Bay could look many directions with its first-round selections, but Abram could fill several schematic positions as soon as next year and provide much-needed stability at safety for years to come.

The weekend report that Dolphins V.P. of football operations Mike Tannenbaum is all but certain to be fired is if anything becoming more certain as Week 17 approaches. So if/when Tannenbaum goes Jaquan Johnson Buffalo Bills Jersey , what happens next?At this point, no one knows. Chris Grier serves as the G.M., but he doesn’t have true G.M. powers. As Armando Salguero of the explained it over the weekend, coach Adam Gase holds the contractual final say over the team.Salguero also suggested that the Dolphins should offer Gase an extension and a raise, along with a reeling in of his authority. And that may become a necessity, given what the Dolphins could be planning for the future.Per a league source, Vikings assistant G.M. George Paton and Bills assistant G.M. Joe Schoen are among those who could be interviewed for a position in Miami, possibly for the same title Tannenbaum holds. But if Miami isn’t able to offer a new employee control over the football operation, the Vikings and Bills (and any other team with a current front-office employee under contract) would be able to block the process. That’s why the Dolphins need to wrest power from Gase, either voluntarily or involuntarily Color Rush Jaquan Johnson Jersey , if the goal is to hire a high-level executive from another NFL franchise. And that gives Gase plenty of leverage over the team, since Gase sacrificing his say becomes the key both to keeping him and to adding a high-end candidate, regardless of whether the title is G.M. or V.P. of football operations. The wild-card in all of this becomes Grier. After the retirement of Ozzie Newsome, Grier will become the only minority G.M. left in the NFL, and there soon will be plenty of external pressure placed on the league both to rectify the situation and to not exacerbate it. The league could then turn that pressure toward the Dolphins, and the Dolphins may feel compelled to find a way to keep Grier, even if the new head of football operations (whatever the title) wants to hire his own staff.Looming over everything is the lingering belief that owner Stephen Ross would be interested in hiring Ravens coach John Harbaugh. Before hiring Harbaugh, however, Ross would have to: (1) fire Gase; (2) conduct an inclusive coaching search that satisfies the Rooney Rule; (3) work out compensation with the Ravens in the event Harbaugh is hired; and (4) negotiate a contract with Harbaugh. Absent deft and discreet back-channeling, Ross may have to pull the plug on a coach he’d otherwise prefer to keep and then hope that Harbaugh can eventually be landed. However it plays out Youth Jaquan Johnson Jersey , the expected termination of Tannenbaum will become the first in what ultimately could become a messy pile of dominoes that will land Lord knows where. Which basically summarizes the state of the Dolphins over most of the past decade.Micah Hyde, Rafael Bush headline Buffalo Bills inactives The Buffalo Bills are hoping to exit with a win as they host the Tennessee Titans today in Orchard Park, but a few key injuries could make the task a challenge. The Green Bay Packers gave up 34 points in Sunday night’s loss at Atlanta. The Cincinnati Bengals have scored nine points while starting the season 0-2.One of these struggling units should be feeling better about things after Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field. The Bengals haven’t scored a touchdown in losses to Baltimore and Houston at home. A day after the 13-9 loss to the Texans Womens Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey , longtime coach Marvin Lewis fired offensive coordinator Ken Zampese and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor.“We have to have a direction of execution and things have to fit together and we’ve got to provide opportunity to attack the defense,” Lewis said. “We’ve got to do a great job attacking what is our perceived weakness of the defense and get the ball to our guys who can make plays.”That starts with getting quarterback Andy Dalton back on track. Dalton, who is coming off his two best seasons, with a career-high passer rating of 106.2 in 2015 and a career-high completion rate of 64.7 percent in 2016, owns the worst passer rating in the league at 47.2 and the next-to-worst completion rate at 54.5 percent.Dalton has thrown four interceptions and been sacked eight times behind a shaky offensive line that has struggled to replace left tackle Andrew Whitworth and right guard Kevin Zeitler, who left in free agency.Green Bay’s defense got off to an impressive start vs. Seattle in a 17-9 win to open the season but got exposed, again, in a 34-23 loss at Atlanta. The Packers couldn’t stop Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan (252 passing yards, 108.0 rating), receiver Julio Jones (five catches, 108 yards) or the running game (5.2-yard average).Early in that game , Green Bay inserted cornerback Kevin King, a first-round draft pick, into the lineup and he gave up only one catch. With Lewis looking to get the ball more to his playmakers, King and fellow cornerback Davon House will be tested by star Bengals receiver A.J. Green. Green had 1,000-yard receiving years in each of his first five seasons and would have done it again last year if not for missing six games because of injury. He has caught 10 passes for 141 yards to start this year. While Cincinnati’s offense has been horrible, the defense has played well enough to win both games. The Bengals have given up 20 points or fewer in eight of their last nine, including both games this season. In the opener against Baltimore, Cincinnati lost 20-0 due, in large part, to five giveaways. Last week against Houston, the Bengals gave up only 266 yards Stephen Gostkowski Jersey , including 98 net passing yards, but lost 13-9.Lewis knows his defense will face a much bigger challenge against Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers than it did last week against rookie Deshaun Watson. Lewis has had some success vs. Rodgers, though. In matchups in 2009 and 2013, Cincinnati won both games and held Rodgers to a passer rating of 73.5.“He’s an outstanding player,” Lewis said of Rodgers. “He has a great command of their offense and what Mike wants done. He knows the system inside and out, knows where everybody belongs (and gets) everybody to the right spots. And then he’s able to just do a great job of delivering the football. And then he extends them with his arms, his legs.“I think the thing we just impress upon our players is this is an all-day sucker, man. We’ve got to play the run, we’ve got to tackle and then, when we get in coverage and rush, we’ve got to be consistent and we’ve got to play tenacious and stay after it.”Injuries again will be a factor for the Packers. Seven starters were out by the end of the Atlanta game. Offensive tackles David Bakhtiari (hamstring) and Bryan Bulaga (ankle) were inactive Womens Duke Dawson Jersey , and receivers Jordy Nelson (quad) and Randall Cobb (chest), House (quad), safety Kentrell Brice (groin) and defensive tackle Mike Daniels (hip) dropped out during the game. Nelson and Bulaga were full participants on Wednesday, but Bakhtiari, Brice, Cobb, Daniels, House and outside linebacker Nick Perry (hand) were among eight players who did not practice.“We expect to play well every time we’re out there,” Rodgers said. “No matter who’s out there, they’re all professionals. There’s an expectation of a style of play and a performance that we all have for ourselves and for each other. So whoever’s out there lining up is going to be expected to play well.”For Cincinnati, tight end Tyler Eifert (back) and right guard Trey Hopkins (knee) were the only starters who did not practice. It’s early , but could the Patriots possibly have drafted another third-day quarterback who turns into a starter? Although no one should overreact to preseason stats or results, Jarrett Stidham has not looked like the stage is too big or the lights too bright. Tom Brady did not play Saturday night. Instead, Brian Hoyer started and played four series, into the second quarter, before Stidham replaced him. The fourth-round pick went the distance, completing 14 of 19 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown. His 23-yard touchdown pass to Damoun Patterson with 4:12 remaining completed an 11-play, 99-yard drive that gave the Patriots a 22-17 victory. In the Patriots’ preseason opener, Stidham was 14-for-24 for 179 yards and a touchdown.Stidham did start in the Big 12 for Baylor and in the SEC at Auburn, so he is accustomed to big games in front of big crowds. It is showing so far as Stidham has handled himself admirably.
