Renault, the French automaker made its debut in the entry-level hatchback segment way back in 2015, when it introduced the Renault Kwid for the first time. Since then it has been among the most popular entry-level cars in India. The SUV-inspired design gives it a bigger and muscular appearance, which can be termed as a mini SUV. Exterior design

Renault Kwid is an entry-level hatchback, which is based on the company’s new CMF-A design philosophy that also underpins the Datsun Redi GO hatchback. With a mini SUV design and a high ground clearance, the car certainly looks more contemporary than its rivals. The all-new special edition of the car gets the badging of Live for More on the door and is offered in two graphics options- Sportz and Rallycross.

Up front, the car gets a sporty appeal, thanks to the stylishly designed fog lamps, body coloured front bumper, dual-slate grille and swept-back headlights. The side profile of the car gets black plastic cladding, rectangular-shaped wheel arches, ORVMs and rides on the 13-inch wheels. It continues to flaunt a rear diffuser and rear headlights. The available paint schemes are  Moonlight Silver, Fiery Red, Outback Bronze, Planet Grey and Ice Cool White.

What’s inside?

The interior of the 2018 reloaded edition of the Renault Kwid gets some additions to the feature list from the existing model. Its interior is rather simple and is the most spacious one in the league, offering comfortable headroom and legroom to the occupants. It gets a 7.0-inch infotainment system, navigation system and a digital instrument console. Additionally, it packs a rear parking sensor, which was not present in the previous models. It offers a class-leading boot space of 300-litre. The top-notch model gets superior leather upholstery on the seats as well as on the steering wheel. The safety features in the car include ABS with EBD, driver airbag and a digital tachometer.

Engine mechanism and mileage

At the heart, the 2018 Renault Kwid is powered by the same engine mechanism, which comprises of the three-cylinder 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines. The lower capacity engine is capable enough to produce a maximum power output of 53.2 bhp at 5,678 revolutions per minute against a peak torque of 72 Nm at 4,386 revolutions per minute. On the other hand, the larger capacity unit generates a maximum power output of 67 bhp at 5,500 revolutions per minute and a peak torque of 91 Nm at 4,250 revolutions per minute. For transmission, the engines of the lower-end variants are matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the high-end trims get an optional 5-speed AMT unit.

The 800cc Kwid claims a fuel-efficiency of 25.17 kmpl. On the other side, the 1.0-litre unit manages to deliver a mileage of 25.17 kmpl for the manual transmission, while the AMT unit returns 24 kmpl.
